Bad Presentations

Creating Bad Presentations...

...To Learn How to Make Good Presentations.

Another fantastic lesson from Jon Corippo. The basic premise is to learn how to make great presentations from creating a really bad one. I decided to give it a try in my Literacy class to see how it went.

Oh. My. Goodness.

First of all, ,it was a lot of fun. Even my work-avoidance students were focused and excited.

Secondly it worked. As I read my students' reflections, I realized that many (if not all) had found realization in just what NOT to do. I could see the power of using this in my regular classroom. We will introduce it early on, focusing on the joy of learning how to create a GOOD slide. I completely see how this powerful protocol will make the jigsaw strategy better.

In Jon's own's words: Death-By-Powerpoint

My judges' panel used my Bad Presentation Bingo to 'judge' each presentation.

The final step of presenting the bad slideshows is enjoyed by all!

6th grade, 7th grade...

They all love it!

So much fun to do it badly!

One lesson learned was that the students HAD to have a real topic, otherwise 'fixing' the show was almost impossible.

The judges took their jobs very seriously!

The brilliance of having the students titling the 'mistake' allowed the students to truly be aware of the errors and kept them focused.
